Allison Chinchar works as a forecaster of weather for CNN and HLN. She regularly appears as a guest on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Prior to making the move to CNN in June 2015, she worked at many local radio stations such as those in Atlanta and Nashville. The meteorologist has covered flooding, wildfires and hurricanes and even snowstorms. In the year 2019 she was nominated to win an Emmy award for covering the hurricane Dorian which was a hurricane in the Bahamas. Then she reported on an event known as the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, where more than 350 tornadoes struck in the Southeastern United States in just four days. More than 200 of those on April 27th, alone. With her expertise in the field of environmental science, she's covered earthquakes, volcanoes as well as other natural disasters as well as reports on climate change. Chinchar holds a bachelor's degree in Science from the Department of Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is a part of several organizations, including The American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
