Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his family as well as service to his community. He was the youngest son from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on the family farm near Eufala. In second football, he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the US. In the three years that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the university of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing for the Buccaneers. There were three times, he was named an All-Pro. Then he began his business career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. In 1975, he led the team. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's athletic department as its associate director. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
