Selena Marie Gomez (/s@'li:n@ "goUmez"/s@-LEE'n@ GOH-m born on 22 July 1992) is an American singer, actress and producer. Gomez's acting career started in the television show for children called Barney & Friends (1902-2004). When she was a teenager Gomez was famous for her character Alex Russo in the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place (1907-2012). Alongside her television career, Gomez appeared in the films Another Cinderella Story (2008), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), Spring Breakers (2012), Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), and The Dead Don't Die (2019) in which she voiced Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania film franchise (2012-2022). Gomez is the executive producer for the Netflix television series 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Living Undocumented (2019) through her production company, July Moon Productions. Gomez also executive produces and is a star in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + chef (2020-2022) as well as the Hulu mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building (21-21). The latter received Gomez critical praise, and nominations for a Golden Globe Award, and as a producer, an Primetime Emmy Award . Gomez, who was previously part of Selena Gomez & the Scene released three albums. All of them reached the top ten of the US Billboard 200. The albums were all certified gold and earned the Recording Industries Association of America's (RIAA). Her debut album as a solo artist, Stars Dance (2013) is atop the U.S. Billboard 200, and its lead single "Come and Get It" made it to the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez's second studio album, Revival (2015) came out at number one in the US and was certified platinum by the RIAA which led to three US top ten hits: "Good for You", "Same Old Love", "Hands to Myself". The album that she released her third studio album, Rare (2020), became her third consecutive number one in the US and also its first single, "Lose You to Love Me" was her debut top-ten hit in the US and Canada. Revelacion was her Spanish-language album was released in 2021. The singer was nominated to the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. She has received many accolades, including being named Woman of the Year by Billboard in 2017. In 2017, she also set fifteen Guinness World Records. Time magazine named Her one of the 100 most powerful people in the World in 2020. She has a huge following on social media platforms and is the most followed musician and actress on Instagram.
